Machu Picchu Train Options

There are 3 ways to get to Machu Picchu: through the Inca Trail, with the long route through Hidroeléctrica and by train. If you are not one of the people who enjoy outdoor hiking, you should choose the train ride. The train to Machu Picchu is a beautiful journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), at the foot of the Wonder of the World.

If you want to travel by train. You have three options for which class of train to take:

1. Expedition Train
2. Vista Dome Train
3. Hiram Bingham Train

Expedition Train
The Expedition train is considered the «normal» train. We include the price of this train in all of our trips.

The Expedition train has windows on the sides and smaller windows on the ceiling, which provide great views of the Sacred Valley on your way from Aguas Calientes to Cusco.

It has spacious seating, and food/drinks for sale (food is not included). Overall, this is a great option for people who want to keep costs down.

Vistadome Train
The Vistadome train is the most popular train upgrade.

This train has larger windows on the sides and ceiling and more spacious seating compared to the Expedition train. The larger windows provide exceptional views of the country side, farms, rivers and other sites you will pass as you travel through the Sacred Valley.

The Vistadome train also includes an in-trip meal along with entertainment. Additional drinks and snacks are available for purchase during the trip.

The entertainment provided includes traditional song and dance performed by local Peruvians along with a fashion show of beautiful clothes made in Peru.

This a great option for travelers who would like to enhance their overall travel experience.

Hiram Bingham Train
The Hiram Bingham train is a luxury train named after the explorer who discovered Machu Picchu. A journey on the Hiram Bingham train is luxurious from start to finish.

The train includes an observation car, a dining car, a bar car, first class service from start to finish and much more.
